Pirates of the Caribbean Movies in Order

Pirates of the Caribbean is easy: five films, released in story order, no timeline tricks. The useful thing to know is the series' shape — an original trilogy that tells one complete story, followed by two standalone-ish sequels.

The original trilogy

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)The one that made Captain Jack Sparrow a phenomenon. Works perfectly on its own.
  2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)Ends on a genuine cliffhanger.
  3. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)Concludes the Will and Elizabeth story.

The later voyages

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)A fresh adventure — Fountain of Youth, new cast around Jack.
  2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)Also released as Salazar's Revenge in some countries; loops back to the trilogy's characters.

How to approach it

Watch The Curse of the Black Pearl first — it's the best film in the series and a complete story. Continue with Dead Man's Chest and At World's End as one two-part epic. The last two films are optional: On Stranger Tides is fully standalone, while Dead Men Tell No Tales rewards trilogy knowledge. As a Disney franchise the series usually sits together on one platform, but regional licensing still varies — search any film on this site to confirm where the set streams in your country.
